Merry Christmas from the Prescotts!
This year has been a busy one. Last fall I was called to help in the Young
Women’s program at Church. THEN I was
asked to help plan girls camp for the Young Women. I am not much of a camper, so that really
stretched my abilities, but it all turned out well and the girls had a good
time. While I was at girls camp, Cameron
took all 3 kids to Moab UT for a family reunion with his family. I was very proud and impressed that he was
able to go on vacation with the kids all by himself. They had a great time, but we were all happy
to be back home together when all the camping was over.
Right before girls camp, I was released from Young Women’s
and called to lead the music in the Primary and Cameron was called to serve in
the Young Men’s program with the 14-15 year olds. He was just starting to get comfortable with
the boys when they released him from that calling and asked him to be the Scout
Master and work with the 12-13 year old boys.
So far he has camped in the snow and the rain, but he doesn’t seem to
mind. J Cameron loves camping and all things
scouting. I know he will do a great job.
Keith turned 5 in August, which meant starting
Kindergarten. I was a nervous wreck
about sending him to school. But Keith
could hardly wait! His birthday cake was
a school bus and we got him a bunch of school clothes for his birthday. I had heard some different reviews about the
kindergarten teachers at the school and there was one that I really wanted
Keith to have, but by the time I signed him up the only available slot was in
the afternoon. So we started the school
year going to afternoon Kindergarten so that he could have a good teacher. He LOVES Mrs. Nebeker! She is now the authority on everything and he
won’t listen to anything I say. :/ In October they do some testing to see if any
kids need extra help to catch up to their peers so everyone is learning on the
same level. Keith tested so much HIGHER
then everyone else that he qualified for the Gifted and Talented class, which
is only offered in the mornings. SOOOO,
his teacher moved some kids around and was able to get Keith into the morning
kindergarten so that he could be in the “smarty pants” class. Did I mention Keith taught himself how to
read over the summer? He wanted to read,
we found a book, and he figured out the format for the lessons and did most of
it himself. He is very stubborn (no idea
where that comes fromJ),
so he didn’t want me telling him how to do it.
He let me help him get started and then he did the rest. It blows my mind how smart he is. He has been interested in numbers lately and
has been figuring out basic math problems in his head. But now he has started asking Cameron and I
to give him hard math problems; example. 10-6, 5+8, 2+5…. Most kids in his class are just figuring out
how to count to 20 and Keith is working on counting past 100! Can you tell I’m a little proud of my smarty
pants? J
Keith is also very athletic.
He played spring and fall soccer and t-ball in the summer. There isn’t a basketball or football teacm
for his age, but he plays with Cameron in the yard AND in the house. :/ He hasn’t broken anything too valuable
yet.
Rosie turned 4 in September, which means she is NOT a baby
any more. She wants to be doing
everything that Keith is doing, so she is now learning how to read. But she lets me help her with the
lessons. She says she misses Keith while
he is at school, but as soon as he gets home it seems like all they do is fuss
with each other. :/ Rosie and I have a pretty good system in the
mornings. She helps me with chores, we
do a reading lesson, read some stories together and then she and Emma play
while I do “grownup” stuff like pay bills and do the chores that she can’t help
with. By the time we get Keith from
school we are ready for lunch and naps.
Rosie loves all things music. We have a recorder and a key board that she
enjoys playing with, but doesn’t really know how to play. One of these days I need to get her some music
books so she can learn how to really play them.
She loves to turn on Pandora on the iPad and sing along with Disney
songs and dance around with Emma.
Rosie is our most stubborn child and does NOT do anything
that she doesn’t want to. She has to
pick out her own clothes, choose if and how we do her hair and she won’t eat if
it isn’t what SHE wanted. She is
teaching me to be VERY patient.
Rosie is also incredibly sweet and thoughtful and
GIRLY! If she feels like someone is
upset she tries to help them feel happy by being goofy or bringing them a toy
or a treat. She gives the best hugs and loves to snuggle. She wears dress up dresses most days and she
changes her name to a different Princess everyday. Cameron is usually her corresponding Prince
and we have to call him by that Prince’s name or she gets upset. ;)
Emma turned 1 in August and she is the silliest of our 3
kids. She is always laughing at her own
jokes and playing pranks on us! Her new
thing is to act like she wants to give you a kiss, and then LICK your face
instead. She laughs so hard when she
does this and then pats your cheek like she is trying to help you feel
batter. She loves dogs and crawls around
barking and panting like a dog all the time.
She is obsessed with Frozen and tries to sing along with all of the
songs. Her favorite is Let it Go and she
can even say LET IT GO. She also sings
Do You Want To Build A Snowman. That one
is a little harder to tell what she is singing until she starts clicking her
tongue and says “ok, bye”. The other
day Rosie had turned on Pandora and Let it Go came on and Emma screamed in excitement
and ran over to the iPad to sing along. J
Emma is an adventurous eater. She will eat ANYTHING that Cameron is eating,
even if it is spicy salsa and chips. She
does not like ketchup though and won’t even eat a hamburger if it has
ketchup. Cheese is her favorite food and
she will say and sign cheese until you give her some. She has followed me around the house, into
the bathroom and outside begging me to give her more cheese!
Keith and Rosie both took swimming lessons in the
summer. Keith said he wanted to swim
fast like Uncle Jake. I told him it
would be awhile before he got that fast.
First he had to be able to stay on top of the water. He wasn’t happy about that, but he worked
really hard and by the end he was swimming pretty good on his own. Rosie did not like putting her head in the
water and decided that she would rather have a life jacket on than swim on her
own. :D
Life sure is busy with 3 kids, but Cameron and I decided it
just didn’t feel complete, so we are having another baby in June. J We are very excited to add to our craziness and
we hope it is a boy. Keith might disown
me if it is another girl. I did promise
him though that if it is a girl I will let him get a dog. So I REALLY want it to be a boy!
